lately…

Wow!  It’s been such a long time since I posted anything here.  I’ve been doing a lot of writing in my daily life so I just haven’t had it in me to write anything for leisure.  But this week I have a little bit of time off, and a lot of time for reflection!  I thought it would be nice to do a little update.  This is kind of a hodge-podge post just to say what’s been going on with me these days.

Lately I’ve been . . .

  • Busy being a mommy to our new kitten, Nyxi Nebula!  I have fallen head over heals for this little darling.  She’s in full-on kitten mode—one minute she is attacking everything in sight, the next minute she is purring and snuggling while fast asleep.  It’s definitely a new phase for Bijan and I!  Having a little life to take care of (especially with her being so young, only about 8 weeks old now) has definitely shaken up our routine a little bit.  But I love her so much that it’s all worth it

  • Totally obsessed with anything avocado.  I just can’t get enough!  My current favorite is making an easy guacamole and eating it with blue corn tortilla chips for lunch.  I just mix avocados, lemon juice, salt, pepper, and cayenne pepper and I’m good to go. Delicious!
  • Finishing up my yoga teacher training.  Next weekend is our final weekend, and I can hardly believe it!  I’ve spent this past month taking some amazing classes and teaching yoga to some of my closest friends (also some new ones!)  It has been such an awesome experience.  On one hand, I am so sad for this training to end.  Our monthly intensives (for the past five months now!) have been such special times of learning, creating a community, and bonding with each other.  I will miss all of these incredible women so much!  On the other hand, I am so ready to begin this new phase of the journey.  As I’ve been teaching some classes this month as part of the training, I’ve realized that teaching yoga is just another aspect of practicing yoga.  I feel so humbled, honored, and blessed to be able to share something that is so special to me!  It was kind of scary to put myself out there at first, but it is the most rewarding thing I have ever done.  For the first time in my life, I feel absolutely certain that I’m doing something that I am meant to do.  This is just the beginning.  There is so much more to learn and so much to give!
  • Absolutely loving Spotify!  It’s my new favorite music app and I have it on my computer and my phone.  I signed up for the Premium service so that I could have more control over what I listened to and have the ability to make playlists, etc.  It’s amazing for me because I need access to a lot of music for teaching yoga, but it gets expensive buying music all the time.  This way I get to pay a small monthly fee and I have access to as much music as I want.  It also works as a great way to find new music too.  Anyway I am just having so much fun with it. So great!

Here’s to an amazing summer!
